Learn what Huio is and how to create your first mutual savings group.
Getting Started with Huio
Welcome to Huio, the premier modern management platform for traditional mutual savings groups (Hụi / Hội). Huio brings absolute transparency, automated bookkeeping, and safety to a time-tested community finance tradition.
1. What is a Hụi/Hội (Hui Group)?
A Hụi (or Hội) is a traditional rotating savings and credit association (ROSCA) widely popular in Vietnam and other parts of Asia. It consists of:
- Host (Chủ hụi): The organizer who sets up the group, manages calculations, verifies participants, and guarantees payments.
- Members (Hội viên): Participants who contribute a fixed amount of money every period and take turns receiving the lump sum ("payout").
- Share/Slot (Chân hụi): A single participation slot in a group. A member can buy multiple slots in a single group to save more or borrow multiple times.
In Huio, a mutual savings group is called a Hui Group (or simply Group).
2. Setting Up Your Account
Getting started with Huio is simple:
1. Download the App or Open Web: Install Huio on your iOS or Android device, or access the web app at `https://huio.app`.
2. Flexible Sign-in:
* Sign in with Zalo: Tap the Zalo icon for 1-tap sign-in via the secure Zalo OAuth v4 PKCE protocol.
* Phone via SMS OTP: Register with your Vietnamese phone number (`+84…`) and verify with SMS OTP.
* Google / Apple / Email: Sign in seamlessly with Google, Apple ID, or email.
3. Choose Your Role & Name:
* Host (Chủ hụi): For organizers managing mutual savings groups.
* Member (Hội viên): For participants joining groups organized by hosts.
* Confirm your display name.
4. Accept Terms of Service (ToS): Review and accept Huio's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
5. Complete Profile: Add your bank account information for automatic VietQR generation and payouts.
2.1. 6-Step Getting Started Checklist (For Organizers / Hosts)
On the Overview dashboard, Huio provides an automated progress tracker guiding you through your first complete cycle:
1. Create your first Group: Set group name, frequency, and base contribution.
2. Add all slots: Invite or assign slots until all period slots are filled.
3. Start the first period: Open the live auction or designated bidder for round 1.
4. Record the winning slot: Finalize the winning bid and complete the auction round.
5. Record payments: Mark payments collected or reconcile bank transfers.
6. Set up bank account (Optional): Enable automated VietQR code generation and transaction matching.
3. Creating Your First Group (For Hosts)
If you are a Host, you can create a new savings group in 4 simple steps:
1. Basic Details: Give your group a name and set the Base Contribution (e.g., 1,000,000 VND per period).
2. Configure Rules:
* Set the Cycle Period (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or every N days).
* Choose the Commission Fee Type:
* `on_open` (Host receives a fee when the group starts).
* `on_win` (Host takes a commission percentage from each winner's payout).
3. Add Members: Add slots from your contacts or create manual drafts. Members can own multiple slots (e.g., Member A has 2 slots, Member B has 1 slot).
4. Preview & Launch: Review the calculated total periods and schedule, then tap Launch to activate the group.
4. Joining a Group (For Members)
To join a Host's group:
1. Open the Invite Link (which uses a Universal Link like `https://huio.app/join?token=TOKEN`) or scan the QR Code shared by the Host.
2. Confirm the number of slots (chân hụi) you wish to register.
3. Wait for the Host to approve your entry and launch the group!
5. Invitation Flow & Automatic Registration (Invite & Auto-mapping Flow)
Huio optimizes account setup so that hosts and members do not need to configure anything manually:
- Phone-based Auto-mapping: When a Host creates a group and registers members by their phone numbers, the system creates placeholder profiles. As soon as those members register on the app with their phone numbers, the system automatically matches and links their accounts with all pre-created slots (`hui_slots`).
- Directory Contact Sync: Member notes and bank accounts are synchronized globally with the Host's directory database using their phone numbers. Any updates made in the Directory will automatically propagate across all groups they participate in.
6. Export Documents & Automated Bills
Huio replaces Excel spreadsheets and manual Zalo sharing with auto-generated documents built directly from live app data:
- Member Payment Slip (E2): Personalised bill with P&L, amount due, and VietQR. There is no menu label — tap the grey doc icon next to a member in Finance → Today or Groups → Payments (Đóng tiền).
- Group Info Sheet (E1): Full group overview. Groups → select group → doc (top right) → Group Information Sheet.
- Period Collection Checklist (E3): Payment status list. Payments (Đóng tiền) tab → doc on period block.
- Batch Bill Export (E4): PNG E2 slips for unpaid members. Gửi phiếu hình ảnh hàng loạt in Payments tab.
- Group Summary Report (E5): Final P&L for completed groups. doc menu → Summary report.
- Member Balance Sheet / Consolidated Member Balance Sheet (E6): Per-member balances. doc on group page (Member Balance Sheet) or Members tab header (Consolidated Member Balance Sheet).
- Payment Receipt (E10): Winner payout slip. Payments → Winner card → coral doc icon.
- Daily Collection Summary (E11): All active groups. Finance → Today → doc (header).
- Invite link (not E6): 🔗 icon next to member in Members tab.
- Excel Report Export (.xlsx): Hosts can download a 3-sheet Excel workbook (comprising Overview, Member details, and Transparency/Change logs) directly from the group details screen. The file is fully compatible with mobile apps like Google Sheets/WPS Office and can be shared via Zalo.
- Google Sheets Sync: Huio supports syncing data to Google Sheets via Google Identity Services (GIS) OAuth and Google Sheets API v4. Hosts export a 4-sheet spreadsheet to Google Drive with automated `=SUM` formulas for calculations of total contributions, payouts, and commissions, keeping data synced online.
All documents are A4-ready and open the share sheet (mobile) or print dialog (web) — share via Zalo or save as PDF.
